
Dubai Municipality has handed a contract worth AED 500 million for the construction of a giant convention center in the Al Jadaf area of Dubai, opposite the Dubai Festival City, on the shore of the Dubai Creek. The project’s total area is about 55,000 square meters.
Home Sheikh Rashid Arena conference hall will be able to host up to 10,000 visitors, but apart from this component, the complex will also include three hotel and office buildings.
Sheikh Rashid conference hall with five separate spacious sub halls will host conferences, concerts, theater performances and other events. And a 33-storey three-star hotel, a 48-storey four-star hotel and a 36-storey office center will be connected to the main conference hall through a glass-covered air conditioned corridor with a bunch of retail units, boutiques and restaurants inside.
In addition to the conference center, emirate’s authorities intend to implement another nine major projects of this kind in order to completely transform Dubai into a center of cultural, industrial and economic life of the region.
In April, imexre.com reported of a top-ten Dubai Municipality’s projects including the unique cultural and sports facility Dubai Steps, a giant staircase-shaped construction of 500 ‘steps’, i.e. levels of the building, symbolizing the stages of the emirate’s formation and progress.
Another two major projects of this ten announced innovations belong to the industrial and municipal fields. They are a project of a Vertical Industrial City, as well as 11 hectare Hardware, Bicycles and Green Building markets in Warsan.
