
The construction of a unique commercial and residential real estate project Aladdin City, styled in the spirit of the Arabian Nights, will start in the fourth quarter of 2016, Dubai Municipality has announced.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, the CEO of Dubai Municipality, said the organization has shortlisted candidates for constructing. Three companies - Arif & Bintoak Consulting Architects and Engineers, Incorporated Consultants and Meinhardt Group will enter the final stage of the tender, when the winner will be chosen.
One of these construction companies will get a contract for construction of Aladdin City, the design of which was inspired by the legends and tales of Aladdin and Sinbad the Sailor. The cost of the project will amount to about USD 15 million, and the handover is scheduled no later than the fourth quarter of 2018.
Aladdin City project aims to attract tourists’ extra attention to Dubai Creek area and bring the historical heritage of the emirate closer to visitors. This complex will be also neighboring Dubai’s historic district soon to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The project will consist of three towers, resembling traditional Arab lamps. Buildings accommodating commercial and hospitality units will be built on piers spreading out into the sea over a distance of 450 meters from the shores of Dubai Creek. The complex will also have an access to the on-shore facilities though air-conditioned bridges with moving floors. The towers will have a built-up area of 110,000 square meters. The highest of them will reach a height of 34 floors, while another two towers will have 26 and 25 floors, respectively.
