Dubai Parks and Resorts has announced an agreement to set up a Sony Pictures Studio and Smurfs Zone at motiongate Dubai, a Hollywood inspired theme park, The National reported.
It will contain 12 themed attractions inspired by popular Sony Pictures releases such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Ghostbusters, Zombieland and Hotel Transylvania.
“We are very excited to partner with Dubai Parks and Resorts to create compelling attractions that extend our most iconic brands into the themed attractions,” said Gregory Economos, senior vice president at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Dubai Parks and Resorts said in a statement that the inclusive of the Sony Pictures Studio and Smurfs Zone “is set to take visitors on a cinematic journey of discovery, bringing to life some of the most recognisable Hollywood icons from the big screen. The park will leverage latest-in-technology attractions and new-generation rides to offer a distinctly unique, high-value entertainment experience.”
Phase 1 of Dubai Parks and Resorts will comprise three theme parks: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai and LEGOLAND Dubai. The development, between Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi, is scheduled for completion in 2016 and will also feature Riverpark, a grand entrance plaza and Lapita, a family themed hotel.
