Dubai developers and city authorities intend to implement a number of ambitious projects before the greatest event of the decade, World Expo 2020 that will turn Dubai into a true "future city" not only in theory, but in practice. The $545 million Dubai Water Canal Project deservedly comes at the first place of the top 12 list. This artificial waterway will connect Dubai Business Bay area to the Persian Gulf in a year, in October 2016.
Museum of the future, which looks absolutely natural in the futuristic Dubai, took the second place in the ranking of the most anticipated real estate projects in the run-up to Expo 2020. The building itself will remind that Dubai is meant to become a major center for innovations in the Middle East. This structure in the form of shiny oval with a hole in the center is to be built not far from Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) next to the Jumeirah Emirates Towers.
USD 816 million Jewel of the Creek was named as another "jewel" in a row of astonishing Dubai real estate projects. It is being built right next to Dubai Creek. The complex will include several 19-storey apartment buildings, three office buildings, two luxury hotels, a convention center with a ballroom, as well as the marina and other attributes of the waterfront complex of the highest level.
In addition to these top-3 projects, the list of 12 most anticipated Dubai projects also includes USD 3 billion residential and hospitality real estate luxury complex Habtoor City, MBR City - District One with its seven kilometers of artificial Crystal Lagoons and the world's largest artificial beach, Aladdin City in the heart of Dubai Creek being built by the Dubai Municipality and inspired by the traditional Arab culture, three theme parks under the name of Dubai Parks and Resorts, artificial Bluewater Island development with the Dubai Eye, the world’s tallest Ferris wheel, and also a set of six buildings in Dubai Creek Habour project, as well as Al Mamzar project, Dubai Frame and Deira Islands.
