Dubai will keep its status as a leader in the number of super tall buildings this year, a report by Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has revealed.
Two out of ten super tall high-rises scheduled for completion in 2016 globally will be constructed in Dubai. These are Marina 101 and The Address Residences The BVLD.
“2016 alone would see the global total of supertalls increase by 18 to 27 per cent. Unsurprisingly perhaps, the majority of these will be located in Asia and the Middle East,” the report by CTBUH said.
427-meter Marina 101 constructed by Sheffield Holdings will be located in Dubai Marina and will include 101 floors, respectively to its name. In the Council on Tall Buildings rating this construction takes fifth place by height.
Ninth place in the rating is taken by a second ultrahigh Dubai skyscraper planed for completion in 2016. This tower, The Address Residences The BVLD being constructed by the Dubai property industry’s giant Emaar Properties will reach 368 meters in height and will have 72 floors.
It is expected that Marina 101 will be completed the first in April 2016, followed then by The Address Residences The BVLD planned for handover in August.
However, China is also set to house a great number of super hi-rises completed this year. According to CTBUH, a 115-storey financial center in Shenzhen is expected t be the tallest building of 2016. Nevertheless, Dubai will retain its leadership in the number of super tall buildings in the next years, according to the Council on Tall Buildings.
