The UAE ranked the first among global countries in terms of the tallest buildings completed in 2017. Read more to find out, which towers are there.
Globally renowned for its skyscrapers and magnificent architecture, Dubai keeps filling in its long list of record-breaking structures with three of the five world’s tallest buildings completed in 2017 globally, according to a report by the Council on High Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).
As of the end of 2017, the UAE saw completion of the four skyscrapers with a height of 200 meters and above. Now the emirates are ranked 4th globally in terms of skyscrapers situated here. 95 towers reaching a height of 200 meters and above are now delivered in the UAE.
Marina 101 Hotel and Residences complex became the tallest skyscraper in Dubai, built last year, and the second tallest building in Dubai and the UAE after Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world. 101-story Marina 101 has 425 meters in height. It has been delivered by the Dubai Master Developer Emaar Properties. Marina 101 is now dubbed the third highest tower in the Middle East, and the 18th tallest building in the world.
The tower will accommodate serviced apartments and the first in the Middle East Hard Rock Hotel.
The second tallest building, completed in 2017 in Dubai, was another 73-story skyscraper by Emaar Properties — The Address Boulevard, 370 meters high. This is the 6th tallest building in Dubai, the 7th tallest in the UAE, the 9th tallest in the Middle East and 33th tallest building in the world.
Situated next to Burj Khalifa and within walking distance to the Opera District, the tower has convenient direct access to Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. Its houses 196 hotel rooms under The Address Hotels + Resorts brand management, as well as 530 serviced residential apartments.
The skyscraper rests on a multi-level podium, the top floor of which includes separate lobbies for the hotel and for residential block of serviced apartments. All apartments and rooms have unobstructed views of the center of Dubai. A moving walkway inside air-conditioned covered passage connects the tower to the Dubai Metro, The Dubai Mall and other key infrastructure facilities.
New records of the "future city" in the field of super-tall buildings construction will help to create additional economic leverages both in the real estate sector, and in tourism sector, according to CTBUH experts; and also to a large extent stimulate the growth of the country's GDP.
In particular, next world’s tallest building The Tower, which is nearing completion in the Dubai Creek area, has every chance to become a new city’s main landmark and Dubai’s brightest "lighthouse", the architect of The Tower is sure. This new attraction will help the city to strengthen its unique position on the world arena, Santiago Calatrava Waltz says.
